The Awesome Anthem of Awesome Land

P3120039.JPG P8160039.JPG PA310054.JPG P310052.JPG

Featured here is a full EP's worth of music from a band called Zohar. We would've put this out on True Panther (actually we meant to like 6 months ago but fucked up) but then they stopped living in the same city and technically broke up, so there didn't seem much point to putting the album out. Maybe they'll pull some mystical messianic shit like Sabbatai Tzvi (or Jesus, I guess) and return again. I always wanted to call this album "The Awesome Anthem of Awesome Land" because it just seemed obvious that if there ever was an Awesome Land that they would have to commission Zohar to write their psychedelic national anthem. Obviously the Zohar-penned anthem would be as awesome if not sweeter than this album. These recordings were made in the back of what used to be a dry cleaning place in Oberlin, Ohio. It was recorded by Leif Shackleford and mastered and fucked around with by Doron Sadja.
I love this band so much.

Origin of the Species

This is the first posting for the True Panther blog. It will feature music of all kinds - plenty of stuff from bands that we're putting out as well as some other treats.
For this first post, we decided to put up three tracks that are related to our first two releases: Red Tape Apocalypse's "I Fucking Love My Friends" 7" and a compilation of rustic punk from San Francisco entitled "Boomtown." Strangely enough, both tracks from that comp are called Ragtime. Dudes fucking love their scott joplin.
Peace!

R.TA - Country Bears

Full Moon Partisans - Ragtime

Cowpeople - Ragtime
