Dory Ben Shalom

From the time we met it's shocked me how acts of great love and kindness emerged from often confusing ether, ambiguous behavior and messages. I fell in love with his music which was in a similar way, ultimately a celebration and longing for love, a deep loneliness obscured by crudeness. He is all over some of my most formative experiences, and the friendships we shared in our community are always with me. I know the music Dory left behind, and the memories we share of his friendship will let him live with us and the music will continue to bring a sense of joy and place to people for a long time. I guess that doesn't make it easier to stop missing him.
