Man in Purple

Among so many other things and people got obsessed with bass dubstep sounds of Joker while in the uk. I've had problems with uk bass music before bc the lack of kickdrum and low bass tones makes me feel like one of my legs is shorter than the other. The 12" I got from Joker (thanks to the righteous dudes at Rough Trade and Sam) kill me. Most of them are from Bristol weirdly enough, maybe something in the water in that small town when I played frisbee and smashed my head open. So much bass, all enveloping kick and bass and sweeping melody lines. He says he makes purple music but it's such a deep purple not drinkable but the vortex purple that you can only see when the sun just starts to come up. So wonderful. Druggy dubstep chanelled through the west coast Luniz and Dre records of my childhood.
