Evan Mast, also known as E.VAX, is an electronic producer and artist based in New York, most famously known for his work as half of the duo Ratatat.
After more than a decade of touring with Ratatat, Evan went on to write and produce records for artists such as Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Jay-Z, Nas, Teyana Taylor, and more.
He released his second solo album as E.VAX in 2021, and now his most recent work is an original score for HBO’s 2021 series, Chillin Island.
Chillin Island (Original Score) follows the show’s protagonists (Lil Yachty, Young Thug, Ski Mask the Slump God, Lil Tecca, and more) as they navigate the lush landscapes of Florida swamplands to the Sonora desert – acting as a soundtrack to the madness that comes with its eccentric characters. Musically it brings together Mast’s previous work in ambient music as well as rap production.
Capturing both the mundane and adventurous, this collection of original scores artfully ties together dialogue from the show with ambient, lo-fi, psychedelic, layered guitars, and lush synths into a rare soundtrack that transcends TV music, immersing you into the worlds of mountains and oceans, guided humanly by your favorite internationally acclaimed rappers and artists.

Working outside of Ratatat, and as a producer for others has been the bridge to return to his solo music. "Doing production work was really helpful," says Mast. "I was constantly experimenting with different methods of making music, trying to find different sounds and different structures." With the new Chillin Island (Original Score)–w...
